We've been getting quite a few questions about our vehicle lately. Everyone wants to know what the Ecamper looks like in action. We get it. We too were completely curious before it became ours, so rather than making you search through the blog for photos, we're putting them all in one place - right here!
Access to the sleeping area is via the sunroof hole in the back of the vehicle, therefore the conversion can only be done to Elements that already have a factory sunroof. Two people can sleep comfortably above with room for sleeping pads (although not necessary). Made out of a weatherproof Sunbrella material, the addition has zip open sides with screens and even LED reading lights!
If you're interested in more information, check out this link. It's the only place you can have the conversion done and it takes about one week. To see a video of how easy it is to pop up and down, click here (courtesy of The Darien Plan).

Glad you guys are enjoying it. We're in Colombia now, which is quickly becoming our favorite country. And hey! Our nice canopy disappeared mysteriously in Nicaragua or Costa Rica, and it was a blue tarp with white poles, looks a lot like yours...coincidence?
Haha! Our canopy has been with us since we left Denver - Ben's contraption that wasn't tested until we hit the road. While most of the time it provides us with much needed shade, it does have a tendency to collapse every now and again. The tent poles used to be silver but after a 2 months in the ocean air, now they're just rusty! We must say however, our most clutch find is the fake green grass that we tracked down at an Ace Hardware in Baja!
